St Andrews Parish Council is seeking to recruit a Deputy Parish Clerk
This is an exciting opportunity for a community minded and motivated individual, to undertake this interesting and varied post in assisting and deputising for the Parish Clerk in supporting a very active parish council.
St Andrews is a parish in north Swindon with a population of approx. 11,000. Once an area of farmland, it now consists of contemporary residential developments that have been required to house Swindon’s growing work force. Swindon attracted many engineering companies since the war due to the excellent transports links. St Andrews benefits from the two motorway junctions for the M4 and major A roads all within 10 minutes creating links to Bristol, Cirencester, Oxford and London. The parish is served by frequent bus services to Swindon town centre and the local area along with outstanding train links to London, with a direct train journey being only 45 minutes long. The parish is a good mix of residential developments and open spaces that include twelve play areas.
We are seeking a Deputy Parish Clerk who is enthusiastic and flexible, with excellent interpersonal, administrative and IT skills and who can help ensure that all key legal, financial and other governance requirements are met.
This is a part-time role working in the Parish Office, currently located at Redhouse Community Centre, working for 12 hours per week. The role will include attendance at several evening and daytime meetings in St Andrews therefore flexibility on the number of hours worked each week is essential.
Requirements: The ideal candidate will have a good standard of education to GCSE level grades A – C or equivalent High level of literacy and numeracy, will hold, or is studying towards the CiLCA qualification and have a good knowledge of the management and running of a Parish Council, or is willing to undertake this training as part of the role. Alternatively, a candidate with transferable business skills would be considered with a range of business and project management skills
Terms of Role: 12 Hours per week with flexibility for additional hours in the evening
Salary: LC2 (24-28), £29,174 to £32,798 (pro-rata – 12 hours/week)) depending on qualification and experience.
