Vacancy for Clerk and Responsible Financial Officer

Clyffe Pypard Parish Council is a small parish of approximately 140 homes.  The current parish councillors are mostly new to their roles and very enthusiastic. We are advertising for a part time clerk and responsible financial officer to keep us on the straight and narrow!  We currently have a temporary acting clerk so are looking for someone able to start as soon as possible.

The role is part time and mainly home based though attendance at our meetings will be required.  Our parish meetings are currently held every other month but there will be additional meetings so a flexible approach to the work is needed.  Remuneration is subject to skill level and experience. The salary for the post will be in accordance with the current National Joint Salary Scale LC1, salary points 7 to 12 and will be calculated pro-rata.  Hours to be discussed at interview.

To be successful you will need a good level of literacy and sound IT skills.  A working knowledge of Parish Council procedures and/or public administration is desirable but not essential as training will be available for the right candidate. Maintaining confidentiality and integrity are also key requirements of this role.

You will be preparing meeting agendas and supporting papers, attending and providing advice at meetings, taking minutes and overseeing the completion of minuted actions, updating the parish website, ensuring compliance with GDPR and other regulations. As our Responsible Financial Officer (RFO) you will also be responsible for managing the Council finances and record keeping
