Courses currently available
WALC offers a training programme for both clerks and councillors. Some courses are only open to member councils and where open to members and non-members, offered at a lower cost to member councils. We provide training for both new and existing councillors and clerks and on specialist subjects relevant to the sector. We can also provide whole-council training.

Please see below for the events which are currently available. In attempt to cut down on course administration and to ensure that anyone booked on one of our training courses receives all the information, we ask that courses are booked by council officers (for themselves or members), in the name of the officer. The invoice and information will then be sent to the officer and the course details can then be distributed by the officer to the delegate. That way, the invoice reaches the council office and the delegate knows to expect the course information to come from the officer.
Shortly after booking, we will contact the booking officer for the delegate names.
Please note, the only way to book these events is through this website. We are not taking bookings by email or phone.
Please do not book to attend a course unless you a certain that you or the delegate for whom you are booking can attend. An invoice will be automatically generated from this booking.
Bookings are to be made by council officers for themselves, colleagues or members. This is because an invoice for the council is generated by the booking and will be sent directly to the person who books.
You can make multiple bookings for each date but there will be a separate invoice generated for each booking (so if you return to book another delegate, or you book on multiple dates)
I will contact the person who has booked for the delegate names so that we can advise the trainer of who will be in attendance
The link to the remote training session will be sent to the person who booked to distribute among delegates. In the past we have seen that members sometimes don’t expect and email from WALC or from a trainer and do not always see the joining instructions.
